Think Biomass,
Think Biome.

About Us

We are an impact-focused venture driven to meet today's energy demands while safeguarding the environment for tomorrow.

At Biome, we aim to promote the adoption of economically feasible green fuels across the Indian industrial landscape in order to meet our commitment to sustainable development goals in a rapidly changing climate. Our comprehensive biomass enterprise focuses on densification, and one day envisions being part of many ever-evolving aspects of the biomass sphere — from CBG and Ethanol to Bio-MDF, Bio-Char, and Bio-Bitumen.

Our Purpose

Decarbonising Energy icon

Decarbonising Energy

We work towards protecting biodiversity by manufacturing a replacement for fossil fuels, thereby reducing deforestation and mining-related environmental damage. We aim to de-carbonize the most carbon-intensive aspect of the economy - energy.

Waste Regeneration icon

Waste Repurposing

Stubble burning is one of the leading causes of air pollution in the country. Our products make use of an existing source of fuel that would otherwise be wasted, and help convert it into a source of energy that is fully renewable.

Enabling Farmers icon

Empowering Farmers

We work towards the social upliftment of farmers through employment generation and skill development. Our products help facilitate the transition from open-field burning to economically viable methods of agricultural waste disposal.

Fuelling India icon

Fuelling India

In a landscape where domestic energy production is low, we aim to help India realise its own potential for energy via Make In India and help reduce dependence on energy imports, all while tackling waste-related pollution head-on.

The average Indian household consumes about 30 units a day.
farmers
impacted per year
India is the world’s 2nd largest food producer and farmers are the primary stakeholders of the economy.
litres
of diesel-equivalent emissions offsetted
The average Indian commuter burns ~4 litres of diesel per day.

Products

We make biofuel sources out of agricultural waste. Biomass is a carbon-neutral solid fuel which serves as an alternative to coal or wood. Solid biofuels come in two forms — briquettes and pellets. The exact product specifications will depend on the client's boiler requirements. For more information on the choice of feedstock, reach out to us for a free consultation.

The solid fuel products we make and supply have a varied heat output, ranging from 2800-4000 kcal/kg. The heat output delivered depends on the client's needs and the geographical availability of the feedstock. The feedstocks used include but are not limited to mustard husk, paddy straw, soyabean husk, chana husk, groundnut shells and bagasse.

Our Vision

  • 1 million tonnes of biomass to be utilized annually through Biome Industria by 2030
  • Diversification of our offerings by manufacturing CBG, Ethanol, and all things biomass and further diversify from solid biofuels to liquid and gaseous biofuel
  • Upskill the rural workforce at scale by educating and supporting rural-level entrepreneurs to repurpose agro-waste - hence making them the main beneficiaries of their own produce.
  • Contribute towards India’s Net Zero Goal by offsetting 1 million tonnes of CO₂

Team

Tanesh Singh Dod

Tanesh Singh Dod

Executive Director

Driven by a deep-rooted sense of duty inspired by his Army background, Tanesh Singh Dod’s commitment to service has expanded beyond the confines of his country to encompass a broader responsibility towards the planet. He pursued an honours course in Zoology from Hindu College, Delhi University, during which he was captivated by the realm of biodiversity and its role in the environment. Mr. Dod’s interaction with brilliant minds from various scientific fields further nurtured his passion and solidified his dedication towards sustainability.

He was then offered a position in the Energy vertical of a prominent multinational consultancy. This opportunity provided him an in-depth understanding of global affairs and developments in renewable energy, particularly the practical innovations that helped sustain environmental systems. It also afforded him invaluable insights into organizational dynamics, culture-building, and the art of making things happen.

During the pandemic, Mr. Dod co-founded Biome as a sustainability-focussed venture. After meticulous deliberation and the withdrawal of pandemic restrictions, the founders ventured into the rural areas of Haryana, Punjab, and Maharashtra to establish their vision — a working entity that converted biomass into a usable Coal alternative. He would like to continue exploring innovative ways to make a sustainable impact in the energy space and thereby serve the motherland and planet.

Executive Director

Born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh and raised all over India, Shubham’s multi-cultural upbringing amidst people from all walks of life has been the foundation for the deep sense of commitment he has toward his country. He graduated high school in Delhi and went on to pursue Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol, UK. Despite several opportunities to emigrate abroad, Shubham chose to return to India to make a meaningful impact.

An avid wildlife enthusiast and photographer, Shubham has great concern toward the environment. He believes that reducing coal usage is a crucial step in combating climate change and mitigating its harmful effects on wildlife. His passion for the biodiversity of his motherland led him to co-found Biome.

He derives a great sense of purpose from working in an industry that not only enables environmental impact, but also uplifts farmers by providing them a direct source of income, skills and employment.
